both instantly recognizable and strangely surreal.

Heads are tattooed, the art integrated into the facial features.

The backs of the heads often add a separate contrasting element.

Lift the head to find a third, hidden design on the base.

The images create a narrative, but what does it mean?

세르게이 이수포프의 손으로 만들어진 구상 도자조각은

즉각적으로 인지되면서도 이상하게 비현실적이기도 하다.

그의 얼굴조각들의 통합적인 특징은 머리에 문신이 되어있는 것 이다.

머리의 뒤편에는 종종 대조를 이루는 독립적인 요소들이 첨가된다.

세 번째를 찾기위해 머리를 들어 올려보면, 맨 아래부분에 숨겨진 요소가 있다.

이러한 이미지들은 이야기를 만들어내는데, 과연 그것은 무엇을 의미하는 것일까?

“My work portrays characters placed in situations

that are drawn from my imagination but based on my life experiences.

My art works capture a composite of fleeting moments, hand gestures, eye movements

that follow and reveal the sentiments expressed.

These details are all derived from actual observations

but are gathered or collected over my lifetime.

Through the drawn images and sculpted forms, I capture faces, body types

and use symbolic elements to compose,

in the same way as you might create a collage.”

그려진 상황 속에 배치된 인물들을 묘사하는 것이다.

나는 꼴라쥬를 만들 때와 비슷한 방법으로 얼굴과 체형을 포착하고

상징적인 요소들을 조합해 이미지를 드로잉하고 형상을 조각한다.”

In Isupov’s work the form and content are also contradictory.

The figures and heads are realistic, even somewhat minimal,

 yet the paintings on them are surreal, highly detailed,

often adding a skewed dimensionality.

There are demons and distortions, surplus limbs and conjoined bodies.

Isupov’s works create a world that is visually stunning and conceptually disturbing.

이수포프의 작업에서 형식과 내용은 모순적이다.

인물과 머리들은 매우 현실적이고 다소 미니멀하기도 하다.

하지만 작품위의 그림들은 비현실적이고 매우 디테일하며 현실과 다른 차원의 것을 첨가하기도 한다.

이것들은 악령의 모습, 상이 뒤틀린 모습, 사지가 여러 개인 형상, 몸들이 결합된 형상들이다.
