I started working with clay at the age of 16 & spent 2 years at Art College studying ceramics & jewellery.  I went on the be trained as a production thrower by Hugh West at West Pottery, this training provided me with the ability to work accurately and precisely with Clay.

Today I make one off thrown pieces which are fired using the raku process.  My main work consists of Copper Matt fumed pots and a range of white glazed and naked raku pieces. 

The copper matt process is notoriously difficult to control and I have spent many years perfecting a recipe and firing process that enables me to consistently achieve strong vivid colours.  I push this process to it’s limits and sometimes will fire a piece several times to achieve the desired results.

나는 16살 때 흙작업을 시작했고 미술대학에서 2년 동안 도예와 보석을 공부했다.

나는 West Pottery에서 Hugh West에게 물레를 배웠고,

이러한 경험은 흙으로 정확하고 정밀하게 작업할 수 있게 해주었다.

요즘 나는 라쿠 소성 방법을 사용하여 물레작품을 제작한다.

나의 주요 작업은 동유약이발린 매트한 용기들과

백유 또는 유약이 발리지 않은 라쿠로 소성된 것들이다.

매트한 동 작업은 제어하기 매우 제어하기 어려워서 강하고 선명한 색상을

내기까지 할 수 있는 방법과 과정을 익히는데 몇 년을 보내야만했다.

나는 원하는 결과를 얻을 때 까지 몇 번이고 소성을 한다.
