GMO(À¯ÀüÀÚ º¯Çü ³ó¼ö»ê¹°) ½ÄÇ°Àº °Å±â¿¡¼­ Ãâ¹ßÇß½À´Ï´Ù. ÆÄÆľ߰¡ ½ÇÇè½Ç¿¡¼­ ¸¸µç °úÀÏÀ̶ó´Â »ç½ÇÀ» ¾Æ´Â »ç¶÷Àº ¸¹Áö ¾ÊÀ» °Ì´Ï´Ù. Æí¸®¼º, È¿À²¼ºÀ» µî¿¡ ¾÷Àº Àΰ£ÀÇ ¿å¸ÁÀº ¸¹Àº °ÍµéÀº Á¶ÀÛÇÏ¿© ½Çü°¡ ¾Æ´Ï¾ú´ø °ÍµéÀ» ½Çü·Î ¸¸µé¾ú½À´Ï´Ù.

¼¼°èÈ­ ¹× »ê¾÷È­ÀÇ °á°ú, À¯ÀüÀÚ(GMO) Á¶ÀÛÀ» ÅëÇØ ´ë·®»ý»ê À¯ÅëµÇ´Â ³ó¼ö»ê¹°¿¡ ´ëÇÑ È¯°æ ¹× °Ç°­ ¹®Á¦¸¦ ½É°¢ÇÏ°Ô ´Ù·é´Ù. ±×³à´Â ÀÏ»ó¿¡ ±í¼÷ÀÌ Ä§ÅõÇØ ÀÖ´Â ´Ù±¹Àû ±â¾÷µéÀÇ ºñÀ±¸®ÀûÀΠŵµ¿Í Àΰ£ÀÇ ¿å¸ÁÀ» °­ÇÏ°Ô ºñÆÇÇÑ´Ù.

 

Hyunsuk Kim takes a serious look at the environmental and health issues surrounding agricultural and fishery products that are being mass-produced and distributed using genetically modified organisms(GMO) through globalization and industrialization. She strongly criticizes the unethical attitudes of multinational companies and the human desires that have deeply permeated everyday life.

±èÇö¼÷ ÀÛ°¡´Â 1990³â´ë Èë°ú µµÀÚÀÇ ¹°¼ºÀ» Ž±¸ÇÏ´Â ´ë±Ô¸ð ¼³Ä¡ÀÛ¾÷À» ÁÖ·Î ¼±º¸¿´´Ù. 2010³â ÀÌÈĺÎÅÍ ÀÛ°¡´Â Àΰ£ÀÇ ²÷ÀÓ¾ø´Â ¿å¸Á°ú »çȸÀÇ °ü°è¸¦ µµÀÚ·Î ´Ù¾çÇÏ°Ô Ç¥ÇöÇÏ°í ÀÖ´Ù. ¿å¸ÁÀÇ ±âº»°ø½ÄÀ» Á¦½ÃÇϱâ À§ÇØ °³Àΰú »çȸ »çÀÌ¿¡¼­ Çü¼ºÇÏ´Â Á¸Àç, ÀÚ¾Æ, ¼º, »ý¸í, »ýÅÂ, ÀÚº», ÀÍ¸í¼º µîÀÇ À¯±âÀû °ü°è¸¦ ²É, ä¼Ò µîÀÇ ÇüŸ¦ ºô¾î º¹Á¦, ¹Ýº¹ÇÏ¿© ¹«ÇÑÁõ½Ä ½ÃŲ´Ù. ÀÛ°¡ÀÇ ÃâÇ°ÀÛÀº Àηù°¡ À¯·Ê¾ø´Â dzÁ·ÇÔÀ» ´©¸®´Â À̸éÀ» ´Ù·é´Ù. ÀÌ Ç³Á·ÇÔÀº »ý»ê·®À» ´Ã¸®±â À§ÇØ ½Ä¹°ÀÇ ¹ø½Ä ¹æ¹ýÀ» º¯È­½ÃŲ À¯ÀüÀÚº¯Çü³ó»ê¹°(Genetically Modified Organism)¿¡¼­ Ãâ¹ßÇÑ´Ù. Àü ¼¼°è¿¡¼­ Àç¹èµÇ´Â ¾à 80%ÀÇ Äá, ¾à 30%ÀÇ ¿Á¼ö¼ö µîÀÌ ¿©±â¿¡ ÇØ´çÇϸç, ÁÖ·Î ¹ÌÁÖÁö¿ª¿¡¼­ Àç¹èµÈ´Ù. ÀÛ°¡´Â ¿ì¸®°¡ À¯ÀüÀÚº¯Çü³ó»ê¹°À» °¡°ø½ÄÇ° µîÀ¸·Î ¼·ÃëÇϸç ü³»¿¡ ¿À·£ ½Ã°£ ´©ÀûµÇ¾î ¼¼Æ÷ º¯À̸¦ ÀÏÀ¸Å°´Â °Í¿¡ ´ëÇÑ ÁÖÀǸ¦ ȯ±âÇÏ°íÀÚ <¸¶Å©·ÎÆÄÁöÀÇ ¿ª½À>¸¦ Á¦ÀÛÇÏ¿´´Ù.

¡®¸¶Å©·ÎÆÄÁö¡¯´Â µ¿¹°ÀÇ Ã¼³»¿¡¼­ ¸ðµç Á¶Á÷¿¡ ºÐÆ÷ÇÏ¿© ¸é¿ªÀ» ´ã´çÇÏ´Â Áß¿äÇÑ ¼¼Æ÷Áö¸¸, °ú´Ù ¼·ÃëµÈ À¯ÀüÀÚº¯Çü³ó»ê¹°¿¡ ÀÇÇØ º¯À̸¦ ÀÏÀ¸ÄÑ Àΰ£ÀÇ ¼¼Æ÷¸¦ Æı«ÇÑ´Ù. ÀÛ°¡´Â ÀÚº»È­ µÇ´Â ½ÄÀÚÀç¿Í ÀÌ¿¡ µû¸¥ ÀηùÀÇ °Ç°­ ¹®Á¦ °ü°è¸¦ Àçȯ±â½ÃÅ°¸ç, ÀÚº»°ú Àΰ£ÀÇ ²÷ÀÓ¾ø´Â À̱âÀûÀÎ ¿å¸Á¿¡ ´ëÇØ ¹®Á¦¸¦ Á¦±âÇÑ´Ù.

 

In the 1990s, Hyunsuk Kim mainly presented large-scale installations that explored the properties of earth and ceramics. Since 2010, she has been expressing the endless desires of human beings and their relationship with society in diverse ways through ceramics. In order to identify the basic formula of desire, she infinitely multiplies the organic relationships between individuals and society, such as the nature of existence, self, sex, life, ecology, capital, and anonymity, by replicating and iterating them in the form of flowers and vegetables. Also, she continues to study various materials other than ceramics, devoting herself to finding an effective wat to convey messages using various media.

In the exhibition, Kim addresses the dark side of humanity¡¯s unprecedented affluence. This abundance starts with genetically modified organisms (GMOs) creating from a change in the plants¡¯ reproductive methods. About 80% of soybean and 30% of corn grown around the world is genetically modified, with most in the Americas. Her project Counterattack of Macrophage calls attention to the fact that consumption of genetically modified agricultural products in processed foods and their accumulation in the body over the long term cause cellular mutations.

¡°Macrophages¡± are critical cells responsible for immunity distributed across all tissues in the body of an animal, but thay mutate due to an excessive intake of genetically modified agricultural products to destroy human cells. She highlights the relationship between food capitalism and human health issues, raising questions about capitalism and the endless selfish desires of humans.
