Melbourne based artists Rowena Martinich and Geoffrey Carran work both independently and collaboratively to create giant public murals and collectable artworks. Their art has adorned buildings and spaces throughout Australia as well as prominent international commissions and exhibitions. Their work as individual artists informs and inspires their collaborative projects, marrying their two diverse practices of vibrant Abstract __EXPRESSION__ism and Representational painting. Martinich&Carran's projects often blur the boundaries between art and design with a strong focus on colour.

멜버른에서 활동하는 웨나 마티니시와 제프리 카랜은 함께 또는 각자 활동하는 예술가이다. 거대한 공공벽화 작업과 함께 판매 가능한 소품 작업을 병행하고 있다.

그들의 작품은 호주 전역의 건물의 안과 밖을 장식하고 있는데, 건물의 내부 공간은 그들의 소품들이 건물의 외벽은 그들의 페인팅이 죽어있는 공간에 생명력을 부여하는 역할을 한다.
 그들의 작품세계는 캔버스의 영역에 국한된 것이 아니라 그 밖의 세상을 바라보고 있다. 좁은 캔버스를 뚫고 나온 듯 에너지 넘치는 강렬한 색들의 향연은 바라보는 이들의 오감을 자극한다. 직관적인 페인팅을 통해 나타난 예측 불가능한 결과물이기 때문에 더욱 재미있고 생동감이 느껴진다.

Katharina Grosse, Joost van Santen, Stephen Hendee, Olafur Eliasson, Judy Pfaff and Dale Chihuly.... 건축, 디자인, 패션 등 각 분야에서 활동하는 여러 작가들에게서 영감을 받아 그녀만의 즉흥적이고 직관적인 작품들이 탄생한다. 이런 대형 작품의 제작은 매우 힘든것 처럼 보이지만 그녀는 모든 것의 스케일이 커질 뿐 크게 문제되는 것은 없다고 말한다. 매일매일 연습의 반복을 통해 자신의 제작과정에 대해서 분명히 알고 있기 때문에 소규모의 작품을 만드는 것과 동일한 프로세스로 대형 작품의 제작을 소화하고 있다. 그녀의 감각과 열정은 벽면을 가득 채운 색색의 페인팅에서 강렬한 존재감을 내뿜고 있다.

These unique hand painted ceramics are made from quality high fired stoneware and finished with a gloss apoxy resin. Each of these is a unique artwork in its own right, painted by renowned abstract artist Rowena Martinich.

이 독특한 손으로 그린 도자기는 석기질 태토 위에 광택 있는 에폭시 레진으로 마무리되었다. 접시나 컵을 캔버스처럼 활용하면서 다채로운 색채를 강조한 드로잉을 보여주는데, 식기 하면 떠오르는 단색의 유약과는 다르게 선명한 원색의 색을 사용한 점이 인상적이다.
