“With my ceramic work I hope to bridge modern design and the natural world by paring down the essence of things to repetitive texture and basic form. I love the way a texture can produce the illusion of movement, the way light and shadow play with one another. I like to keep the work simple, as I strive to make it captivating yet universally understood. Understated and elegant, it should be able to fit in many different contexts.

I work mostly with porcelain, as touch also plays a major role in my work. The feel of the clay is something I will never be able to get away from. The texture is buttery smooth, the color a brilliant white and the working properties challenging.

Focusing on a very limited, almost all white color palette enables me to focus more on texture and surface and calls attention to the brilliance of the clay. I am constantly searching for new hints of inspiration on walks through the woods, beach adventures and through macro photography. The natural world holds a wealth of imagery from which I filter into this work.”

“나는 나의 작품이 반복적인 질감과 기본적인 형태의 본질의 껍질을 벗김으로 인해 현대적인 디자인과 자연 세계 사이의 다리가 되기를 바란다. 나는 어떠한 질감이 빛과 그림자를 통해 형성하는 환상적인 움직임을 좋아한다. 나는 이러한 매혹적인 현상을 보편적으로 이해할 수 있게 계속적으로 간단한 작업을 진행하고 싶다. 절제되고 우하하지만 여러 가지 맥락에 떨어져야 한다.

나는 주로 자기로 작업을 하는데, 촉감은 내 작품에서 매우 중요한 역할을 한다. 흙에서 느껴지는 어떠한 느낌에서 벗어날 수가 없다. 질감은 매우 부드럽고 색감은 하얗고 작업의 특성은 도전적이다.

색감을 화이트에 집중하여 제한적으로 사용하는 이유는 질감과 표면 및 점토가 가지는 광채에 더욱더 초점을 맞추기 위함이다. 나는 숲과 해변산책 및 매크로 촬영을 통해서 끊임없는 영감의 힌트를 얻는다. 자연의 세계는 내가 작품으로 표현하는 이미지의 재산과도 같다.“
